BIO-POEM

DIRECTIONS:  One way to describe the deeper levels of a character’s personality is to write a Bio-Poem.  Using the instructions below for each line, write a bio-poem for Winston Smith.  Use the information from story to write the poem.  Copy any word that does not appear in parentheses. You can use either of the two formats below.  Your bio-poem must give me an in-depth look at Winston.  Don’t just put down simple one word responses.  Use specifics from the text to fully capture who Winston is.  You may rearrange the wording if necessary.

(Write the character’s first name)

(List three specific adjectives that describe this character)

(Identify the character’s relationship to another person: Write “Father of…” “Husband of…” “Sister of…” or identify another relationship)

Lover of (list three things or persons the character loves)

Who feels (list three things the character feels)

Who fears (list three things the character fears)

Who would like (list three things)

Resident of (name/description where the character lives)

(Write the character’s last name)
