Responding to the story

As you read the story, you will be required to respond to your reading on a class blog.
The following is a set of instructions for responding.

1. For each chapter that you read you must first, give the chapter a title and explain why you chose that title. Post your title and explanation on the class blog. Your title must be original and you should not copy what your classmates have posted. The explanation must demonstrate how the title fits with the chapter. Click here to see the grading RUBRIC.

2. Next you will write a brief reaction to the chapter. You may use any of the following prompts or create one of your own:
  • What questions do you have about the story?
  • What do you think about the behavior of the characters?
  • What connections can you make to the story?
  • What do you think is the author's purpose for including certain details or writing the story as she does?
  • What is the theme of the story and how is the author developing it?
  • What symbols do you see in the story?
  • Is this an example of good literature? Why?
