Homework

PART ONE:

Complete the KNU chart.

PART TWO:

You must use at least 3 sources.  One of the sources should be print.  The others may come from the Internet or other sources.  **An encyclopedia is not considered an acceptable source.  Complete a source information sheet for each source you use.

PART THREE:

Read your sources.  Take notes from the sources. Use the sheets provided. These will be turned in for a grade.  When you take notes remember to use quotation marks for any information that you copy word for word.  Also include the page # where you found the information. Try to put the information in your own words whenever possible.

PART FOUR:

Now that you have completed the preliminary research, you are ready to begin planning your paper.  Decide what you are going to focus on.  Write a thesis sentence- one sentence that states what your paper will be about. It should have a subject and an opinion about the subject.

PART FIVE:

Create an outline from your notes.  Use the reasons from your thesis worksheet to create subheadings and record the facts and information you have to support each subheading.

If you carefully complete this part your paper will almost be written at this point.

You can write the body of your paper now.

PART SIX:

Write the introduction to your paper.  Complete the Writing an Introduction worksheet. Write the conclusion.  Use the instructions on the Writing a Conclusion worksheet.

PART SEVEN:

Documenting your sources.  Use your Source Information Sheets that you completed at the beginning of your research to complete the works cited page.  Read the handout on Plagiarism and Documenting your sources.

PART EIGHT:

Now it is time to put the finishing touches on your paper.  Use the guide sheet- Add the Finishing Touches. Carefully proof read your final draft before turning it in.
